for a start ADM6996I is the ethernet chip so I was barking up the wrong tree there.

... so I realised the error of my ways in bricking my p660hw-d1 ( standard issue telefonica router inalambrico ) , I loaded your firmware as above which was not very wise of me.

now, back from the local rastro and I got a  p660hw-d1  for a fistful of pesatos (3euros)... so I will precede with caution and post link to relevant firmware here if things work out.
